This cylinder selection includes Enerpac and Simplex models spanning industrial lifting and workholding configurations. Use the manufacturer and complete model number to distinguish cylinder families before comparing dimensions.
Replacing a known cylinder?
Check the rated force for the required direction, stroke, mounting threads, retracted height and return mechanism. A workholding cylinder specified in pounds of force serves a different selection need from a lifting cylinder listed by tonnage.
To compare cylinder configurations across the full range, start with hydraulic cylinders. Dedicated categories cover hollow-plunger cylinders and pull cylinders.
Use the model drawing to evaluate a replacement
An existing machine or fixture often constrains cylinder selection more tightly than a new application. Record mounting threads, body and plunger diameters, retracted length, stroke and connection location. Match the stated action and force as well as those physical dimensions.
| Replacement question | Evidence to obtain |
|---|---|
| Is this the same cylinder family? | Full manufacturer model and identification markings |
| Will it mount correctly? | Current dimensional drawing and attachment details |
| Will it complete the movement? | Required stroke and extended envelope |
| Will the original hydraulic supply remain suitable? | Oil requirements, working pressure and return arrangement |
Industrial lifting and workholding use different selection language
A small workholding actuator may be specified by clamping force, mounting and flow limits. A maintenance cylinder may be selected first by load, clearance and travel. This collection includes both kinds of purchasing need; do not convert a workholding force into an assumed general lifting approval.
For industrial examples, RC502 and RRH307 illustrate different actions and body configurations. They help frame a comparison without implying that a common brand name establishes fit.
Does the same nominal tonnage mean the cylinders are equivalent?
No. Force direction, stroke, mounting, oil volume and load-contact arrangements can differ substantially.
Are Enerpac and Simplex cylinders covered by one service drawing?
Use the documentation for the actual brand, model and production identification. This collection's grouping does not merge their service references.
For a new application without an existing model constraint, begin with the broader hydraulic cylinder selection guide.
